A really, really nice State Park to camp at. Stillwater is on Lake Groton, which is one of the best lakes I have been to in Vermont. I went out on a kayak and enjoyed the scenery, looking at Owls Head, Little Deer and Big Deer mountain, and seeing all the beautiful homes on the lake.
I love this park! The staff members are wonderful and very friendly. However, I found out that there is NO GROTON STATE PARK! This is actually STILLWATER STATE PARK!!!! Still, it is the best park in groton!
Love this state park. Clean, quiet, safe.
Very noisy camping grounds: motor boats on the lake, lawn movers, noisy neighbors... The lake and camping are surrounded by private properties.
At night, hearing the loons is so peaceful, and the star filled skies shimmered like nothing else you'd see outside of the forest. The hiking trails are great! I picked raspberries and black berries, and edible mushrooms, which I learned about from the Naturalist at the Nature Center just down the road from the park! Boulder Beach is also just on the other side of the lake which was so nice to be able to go there and have a BBQ with my family and enjoy their playground, and sandy beach area.
I love this beautiful peaceful place! I come here to visit "my" loons!. The staff are so helpful and kind. The camping is awesome and the showers and bathrooms are always kept clean!
It was truly a lovely stay, and I'll be back!
